Suggest and select existing customers for an incoming sign-up
I want to check whether an incoming sign-up concerns an existing customer, show possible candidates and give the user the option to select a suggested existing customer or create a new one with the data from the sign-up.
I have in place: 1. Two tables: sign-up and customer, with a many-to-one relation. 2. A button with 2 actions that successfully creates a new customer using the sign-up data and connecting the sign-up to the new customer. 3. I can display the possibly matching, existing, hyperlinked customers in a summary concatenation as a kind of warning.
But I am unable to do the following: 4. Show a detailsview in the sign-up form, with possible existing customer matches like: a. (Same day of birth and surname) OR b. (Same postalcode and house number) OR c. (Same email address) 5. Give the user the option to select one of the possible matching customers and choose “link this customer” (or decide to make a new one).
How do I ensure that users can connect an existing customer with minimal effort to a new sign-up?

Sounds like an interesting issue.
Are these people who are signing up teamdesk accounts? or are you using something like a public facing form to add them to a table in your database?

Hi Cooper,
Digitally ill-equipped people register via a web form connected with the sign-up table.. They do not have an account.

I may have a few ideas for you, but it will get to complex for this. Email me directly at cooper@frobbit.com and we can go into details.
