Hello Everyone,

It is nice that we can copy records by selecting Add Similar.

However, when you have a Master/Detail record only the Master, Gets Copied.
The Detail is not. To me, this is a real weakness as you should be able to copy the detail also.

Has anyone come up with a solution to deal with this problem with a possible workaround?

No workaround in TD that I know of
Only able to do such beastly things in DbFlex 😉

In DbFlex you can create special custom actions that flow down the chain.
There is mention of TD deprecating this function in DbFlex though...but I'd actually prefer them to open it up to everyone.

Reason for not opening up for all might be that it causes 'stress' on the processing...?? Then Crash...then ughhhh...

Hi Brett

How do you create those special custom actions in DBFlex, which are not available in TD. I always thought you could do everything the same in both

Hi Philipp
In each table in DbFlex there is accustom Actions link
All the glory is hidden in comes with a warning though
Make sure you’re in a dev branch!

Can't find that. Where is it ?

Under Rules. Listed like this:
Custom Actions
Custom Forms
Custom Buttons
Validation Rules
Workflow Triggers
Workflow Actions

The top one is the one you want.
Like I mentioned though, it may be deprecated, so not open to users post deprecation. 5/30/2018 6:13:57 AM
Hi Gary,

you can do this by using teamdesk API ( One possible approach would be to create a custom button next to "Add simliar" that executes an API call which copies master as well as detail record using "Create" method.

I could help you with this. Feel free to contact me at any time in my expert profile (

@Basenine - Hi Bret, I am trying to do exactly the same as this thread: to clone a Master record with all its associated Detail records.
I've created a Custom Action in dbFlex for that purpose (Clone Master record: Clone Details), but now I can't figure out how to execute the Action. I created a new "Clone with Details" button expecting to be able to select the new Custom Action. But it is not listed there.
Any suggestions, please?
Or perhaps I should forget about the Custom Action and configure this some other way??
It's functionality that will need to be done every year for several hundred records, so it needs to be a simple process from the Users point of view.
Many thanks

Oh, that's true!! I'd forgotten about that blog which I read a couple of years ago and then forgot about its existence. Thank you for coming to the rescue here @Slava

Hello Luison,
Yes, as Slava has mentioned: New Recordset workflows and actions now
Best regards
