When grouping by a checkbox that is displayed as a "Graphic" the grouping takes this graphic (a 'tick' and displays it at the row header.
The trouble is, no one really knows what the 'tick' means (did someone mention that a legend for views would be good... Colour Label Legend on View header ). Altering the column property to not display as graphic and setting the "Yes" label to "Awesome Checkbox" fixes that problem in the grouping header but then obviously creates another whereby the column now displays "Awesome Checkbox" in the form and view.
Simply, it would be nice to have a Yes/No Label and a Grouping Label

@Brett please consider creating formula-text column which will "calculate" any label you need from "checkbox" column and use that newly created column for grouping.

Good workaround Slava. I guess I was trying to simplify the setup process a bit though.
