Also, a user gets a merge of all of the permissions from all of the roles. I know one would need to work out whether one goes the least restrictive or the most restrictive route, but I have seen this done very successfully in Sage CRM

A user should have the combined permission of all the roles the user belongs to. Multiple roles should have been implemented 10 years ago imho. We also need e-mail notifications that go to all users of a certain role.

It would be perfect for our new project. I would like to add two kinds of roles to every user. One based on the department (logsitics, HR, Sales etc.) and one based on the company hierarchy (employee, middle manager, CEO, CFO etc.) Ideally the permissions would merge autmatically, but switching between the roles manually could also work.

Thanks Slava. I look forward to using email to role once users can belong to multiple roles/groups.
