Since the new change in search results display on November 13, 2013, the search results no longer show the look up column referenced in a table's record. It now shows the link (reference column) itself.
For example: Two tables Customers - with customerID (a number) , customerName (their actual name) and then more like address, phone, email.
Orders - with multiple order information fields and a reference to customerID that brings back the customerName and phone number to the record in the Order table.
Right now if you do a search for an order number that brings up a record on the search page from the orders table, it will show you the customerID as a link to the customer record as part of the order record. I want it to show the customerName that the customerID is linked to.
It used to work this way. I can't change it back because the customerName lookup column in the Orders table doesn't have an 'allow find' check box to turn on.
I hope that isn't too confusing.
I've attached a screen shot, in the shot, the column where is says customer name is the reference column. I want the look up column that it is referring to to show instead with the customers actual name.

I agree, new change to search functionality is great, but it has the undesired effect of ignoring linked columns that might be useful.

As far as I'm concerned, this issue is fixed/implemented based on the change they made this morning about 33 minutes ago. In fact, I think it is better than it was.
