show related (detail) records on the edit form
I would like to see the detail records in the edit form. We have customer service agents that need to see invoice line items and they can't see them while they are adding notes.

This is very important to us.

Firstly, this should be merged with Show related list when in edit mode.

Secondly, I was on another program yesterday and they had a nice feature where you would go straight to the Edit screen of the record rather than the view screen. It showed all the related records below.

It made me think "What a good idea - why do we even need to press View, Edit, Save?". Could we not just view the record, with all the fields that are editable open, showing all related records in place? All the formularised fields would be visible (read only of course).

It would make setup and layout easier too. It would also keep the fields in a consistent place - at the moment, you try and keep the fields in the same place (when you go from Edit to View) but sometimes it's impossible.

The big one is it would significantly reduce network traffic as you're not having to do 3 steps View-->Edit-->Save

The only drawback I can see is if someone closes the window rather than saves....but this can happen anyway!
