Highlight prime columns
While working on tables with a large number of columns, you usually try to display important ones at the top of record preview page using record picker view or special formula column.

There are several drawbacks in using this technique: record preview screen can become quite wide if you put many columns there and it’s not so easy to distinguish what’s each value about.
So my suggestion is ability to specify several “prime” columns for a table and highlight them by displaying them on record preview in following way:

My guess 8 prime columns would be enough. System should nicely format them depending on number of columns specified. Setup part can look like this:

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

I created a similar functionality using a xhtml-field (screenshot 2)

+1 from me, Slava. We are doing various kludges to get something similar, but it would be really good to have it big and bold like your mockup. --Rick

Came here once again via the grid editing post, and I really still like and want this.

The simple ability to highlight this Record Header in another colour/font/size would be very useful.

Would this be possible through the dbstyles.css file?

@basenine: #frm_edit .hdr { /* styles here */ }

Thank you Kirill

I was almost there but could only find the ones for the side bar

Best regards
