While working on tables with a large number of columns, you usually try to display important ones at the top of record preview page using record picker view or special formula column.
There are several drawbacks in using this technique: record preview screen can become quite wide if you put many columns there and it’s not so easy to distinguish what’s each value about. So my suggestion is ability to specify several “prime” columns for a table and highlight them by displaying them on record preview in following way:
My guess 8 prime columns would be enough. System should nicely format them depending on number of columns specified. Setup part can look like this:
