Summary columns optimization
The large number of references to summary columns in formula columns may increases the complexity of the query to the timeout limit.

We're addressing this problem by calculating summary columns once and then using those precalculated values in formula calculation.

If you wish to check performance your app and test compatibility with new summary columns calculation method, please, enable this feature in Setup -> Tools -> Labs.

When I enabled this, the CLOSE button on my Cases caused an internal error, so I have disabled again for the time being.

@Philipp we've addressed the problem. Please try again.

Thank you. This cuts down typical operations to half the time, pre-setting, and the apps feel much faster.

When is the single calculation done, precisely? When you open a form?
Philipp Matuschka 11/7/2010 12:30:31 PM
That seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you

This is outstanding, Slava, thanks! That's a great way of handling it.

Hi Slava - well, it cuts load times in half, and lets us have our various statistics to boot, and I have not seen any negative effects through some busy work closing our reports for Oct, so I think the results this gives are fantastic.

Regards,
Rick
