Notifications show changes (previous & current versions), not just current version
Currently, e-mail notifications show the current version of changed fields. It would be especially useful to know the previous version, so we can see what changed.

For example (these examples will be abridged and with a different layout, but you'll get the idea ...), if Bob changes the due date for a project, I now receive this notification:

* Modified by: Bob
* Due date: 21 May 2007

Did he postpone it? Move it up? With hundreds of issues open, I can't have memorized the old due date. My only option is to archive all notifications and find the previous one for this record.

In contrast, the following would be much more useful (This is how Bugzilla does it, FWIW):

* Modified by: Bob
* Field: Due date
* Removed: 14 May 2007
* Added: 21 May 2007

Also, notifications containing both the old and new versions of the records might be large and hard to read. I'm also going to suggest (separately) adding a variable to notifications that just shows the changed field, not the complete record. (That request is called, "Add variable to notifications: Modified fields only")

The functionality of the "Column History Tracking" idea could help here. According to Kirill Bondar: "The history is a system-wide general purpose structure storing the table identifier, the column changed, the record identifier and old and new values."

If the old & new values are stored in History, they could be included in a notification.

The combined request (see Summary above), would be exactly what Kirill describes -- the column changed, the record identifier and old and new values -- except in a notification and not in a table.

We've added new placeholder %RecChanges% which will insert a list of the record changes in the notification.
