Link to Table and Workspace
Dear All

1) Teamdesk Workspace feature is very convenient as it allows us to work with consistent and limited sets of tables within an application.
2) Many users create bookmarks in their browsers to access directly the tables they want to work with.

Issue:
When a user is working with a table TA in a worskpace WA, if he/she clicks on a bookmark pointing to a table TB in a workspace WB, he will find himself with a view of the table TB in the workspace WA.
This is not very convenient as the search feature will not work (the search is limited to the tables of the current workspace). And the user user will not be able to access directly the other tables of the workspace WB.

It would be so nice to be able to build a URL pointing to any given table and changing the workspace.
I had hoped to make it work adding &workspace=123456 or #123456 to the URL of the tables. But I failed.

Would any of you have any insight to share on this subject ?

Kind regards,

Pierre

I have not noticed this behavior before, I make workspaces for clients, but I seldom use them. I am assuming that you mean the keywork search in the upper right side. I did some testing. I do not think accessing from a bookmark has anything to do with the issue.

I went into a workspace that has 5 tables. One table is searchable. I use the keyword search and it searched the one table and there is no option to expand the search to other tables outside the workspace.

Seems to me that is by design.

Hello Cooper

Thanks for your help

You are correct, by design, the upper right search is limited to the tables of the active workspace.

So, if we last were in Workspace WA, and we go to to a table TB of workspace WB using a bookmark:
- we will see the table TB and the tables of workspace WA
- our 'upper right' search for an element of table TB will not bring any result.

If we had a bookmark calling for table TB and workspace WB, we would see:
- the table TB and its own environment of tables of workspace WB
- the 'upper right' search for elements of table TB would bring the wanted results

Kind regards,

Pierre

I see, I can duplicate what you are seeing, but I think the Team desk guys will need to find a way to resolve. I tried everything I can think of, and it always results in the same thing. You can always fall back on an automation tool. AutoHot Key may do it. or one of the in browser add-on tools. You would just program it to automatically press the workspace dropdown.
