I cannot be 100% certain of your situation. But I have managed to make records in multiple tables that are linked from a button or even a trigger. I would be happy to take a quick look and show you the secret.

This is about a custom button, set to multi-record, with user input set including a column that is a reference. As soon as that selection, or that reference, uses any fields for filtering or matching, it doesn't work on multi-record anymore.

For example, let's says I have a 'Customer' table and a 'Cities' table. And the City reference depends on the Customer Country (strange example, but okay). Then, even if I only select Customers from the same county, the multi-record edit for Customer City does not work.

I am trying to wrap my brain around it, some things just cannot be expressed easily in a text only box.
What I have done in the past, working on a difficult issue.

I make a new sample database.
Slam in just a couple tables with just the bare minimum of columns to duplicate the specific issue. Then I show that to my co-programmer or teamdesk support.

If you can you may want to do that, then you can invite me to the sample and I may understand what you are facing better.

There may not be a solution. But we all may get lucky.

I have a table with a reference to a Colors table:

The colors table has two columns, primary and secondary color:

When I edit an individual record, I can edit the secondary color, based on the primary color:

Now, if I create a multi-record button to edit that secondary color:

I just removed the filter on the reference, and then it works for multi-record. It's only when the possible values are dependent on the records you're editing that it doesn't work.
