Timeline granularity
In timeline views there should be the ability to set the horizontal granularity. Currently this is only weeks/days. Should be able to choose Months/weeks OR Yeras/Quarters, etc

The lowest setting for the Timeline view is per day. In using Timeline to represent data a per hour view would be great.

Allow users to choose a timeline view to be shown with days (either mon, tues or M,T) or weeks or months.
Michael Rennert 10/27/2009 2:41:47 PM
Currently, the timeline displays information only as weeks/days.

Users should have the ability to change the resolution/scaling of the timeline to Years/Quarters, Years/Months, Quarters/Months, or Months/Weeks. {21}

We should also be able to adjust resolution to hours.
We could do nice time gant proyect diagrams for proyect control.

It would be nice to have a feature to customize the granularity to display the timeline view from a date perspective.

Instead of always looking at Days, Weeks, Months & Years the admin user should be able to set it to weeks, months, years or just month & year.

Some views span multiple months and to scroll across weeks and months is not the most effective way to display a timeline view.

This sounds useful, plus, just generally a little more polish on timelines. The sorting is kind of funky.

you should also be able to look at Week/ Day # instead of day name(mon,tue...)

For my own database, an implementation of Gantt Project as way to display data and interact with it would be ideal. Much more efficient than the current "timeline view" which is quite limited (what if you need to look a events over a period of 24-36 months / or a breakdown by day?) I would like to be able to graphically show different items with a start date /end date / % complete. Also, if I could edit the start/end dates by changing the graphic interface it would be a plus. Then the options of linking or not the items with dependencies would be a next step. It is a "nice to have", not a "must" in my view, at least for my needs. See here= "http://ganttprojectapi.sourceforge.net/"

This would be extremely useful.

I would like it to show a 24 hour time period. We use this for booking time slots during the day and this would make seeing availability
Jeffrey Newton 10/10/2015 1:29:03 PM
I would even like to see it break down the hours into 15 minute increments as well. This would potentially open the database use to hotels, salons, restaurants. Etc. being able to set up a schedule for employees would also be an advantage of adding this.
This could be huge.
Rick Cogley 10/10/2015 5:12:22 PM
Agreed, 24 hour time, 15 min increments, and variable / flexible start-stop ranges, so that the view can be zoomed in or out with ease.
Jeffrey Newton 11/9/2015 11:51:15 AM
Lets keep this fresh to promote it's success!
Really would like to see this added
Location Logic 11/9/2015 12:16:34 PM
Completely agree. This would be incredibly useful!

We need a view by Hours ... for rota purposes. Please!
Harold Gibson 7/23/2018 10:22:28 AM
We need a view by month to month progress in the timeline. It makes more sense to give flexibility to chose between an hour to hour or month to month - depending on the project and duration of project /task.

Thanks for what you do!

Harold

Hi

Could the Timeline view please have the option to view Weekly, Monthly, Annually as well as daily? Sometimes daily is not required and makes report unnecessarily wide and lots of scrolling is involved.

Thanks
Rebecca

This type of view is excellent to show the project progress. It is really necessary that can be displayed by month and year
