'Allow users to create new choices' with single/multi-refs
When using a single or multi-reference option, there is no possibility for the user to create a new value to select from without
- closing the screen and losing the data entered so far
- navigating to the source table of the single/mult-ref
- adding a new record
- navigating back to the original form and filling the data again, including the new value

it would be really nice if there was some way to create a new record whilst staying on the original form. I know I can open a new browser tab and make the record but if I hit 'refresh' in the original form then you either get warnings about missing mandatory fields or lose the data.

When using a text field with 'Choices', there is an option to 'Allow users to create new choices' - maybe something similar can be done for single/multi-refs lookups ? I know its more complicated in that all the fields/validation/form behaviour etc has to be applied for the new record but maybe some kind of popup form which returns to the main form and reloads the potential values ?

I was wondering about the same issue yesterday !

I’m sure this can be done when you select the record picker to either ‘Browse’ or ‘Search’. When using ‘Search’ for example, a user can hit the magnifying glass which opens up a window of related table choices. If the choice isn’t there, a user can hit ‘New’, create a record on the fly, ‘Save’…done

Or am I miss reading your intent?

@basenine - indeed but this only works with 'Type In' option
