I Want to set the number of decimals displayed when a numeric column is set to show totals and averages.
And also in summary views.

There are 6 decimal places displayed always on the "Average" calculations of Cross-tab views.
I have tried to fix it using the Formula definition of the columns, but it would not adjust it for the Average calculations.
Would it be possible to restrict the number of decimal places displayed on Average calculations?
Ideally, let Users designing the Cross-tab View to fix the max. no. of decimal places.
But if that is too difficult, then make the default number of decimal places to be just 2, not 6.
Thanks

This would be really helpful.

If your number is defined as a "currency", you get a fixed number of decimals for your number and its aggregates (I think)

Maybe I misunderstand the problem but is this not controlled from SETUP for the NUMERIC COLUMN using the NUMERIC OPTIONS properties of the column?

Where DECIMAL PLACES can be set from 0 to 6 positions.

I think that:
if your number is numeric (non currency), the number of decimals of the aggregates can be larger than the field setup.
if your number is currency, the number of decimals in the aggregate is exactly the number of decimals in the field setup.

Hi Pierre,

I have tested switching it to a currency and it definitely works, however it will only show 2 decimals (obviously), which really makes the view look a lot cleaner. I still think it will be good if there is a setting so set the decimals. In some cases for example with blueberry weight transaction we need to see it to 3 decimals.
But thank you it already makes a huge differences with the user experience.

@Calvin Peters, The column properties is already set to 3 decimals. Its when you set the column properties to show totals and averages where the problem comes in. See my original attachment as an example.

Hello Marianne
You should be able to choose the number of decimals.
The "currency" type always displays the chosen number of decimals, even if it not necessary.
For instance, with three decimals
the number "1" will be displayed "1.000" (or "1,000" according to your selection for the decimal point).
This setting affects the field displayed as well as its aggregates.
Kind regards,
Pierre

If you need a variable number of decimals according to the nature of the record, you could also do the following:
- Create a text field (or a formula text field)
- Assign its content to something like If(<condition>, Format (Numeric field, "0.00"), Format(Numeric Field, "0.000"))
- Display this text field instead of your numeric field

Not gonna work in a summary view.
Shaun Lamminga 3/11/2022 1:45:27 AM
Text fields also do not total.

Talking about Summary Views Shaun,
Wouldn't it be great if you can sort the view (Descending or ascending) according to one of the columns being summarized?
Shaun Lamminga 3/11/2022 5:16:11 AM
@marianne This would be helpful.

The summary views are generally quite limited, being able to select and action a summary entry as a group of records would also be very useful, I can see it being challenging depending on volume.

I have mostly resorted to creating aggregate tables, linking relevant records to achieve more dexterity with "summarized" reports using table views.

@Slava

How can we find the topic 1419 ?
I made various search attempts, in vain

Kind regards,
Pierre

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a versatile and user-friendly experience within the Teamdesk community, we're excited to address a common request regarding Summary View Typeform. Specifically, we've heard your feedback about the calculation fields displaying averages with a fixed number of decimal digits. While the default setting shows six digits after the decimal point, we understand that users may require more flexibility in this aspect.
Understanding the diverse requirements of our customers, we would like to ask Teamdesk team to add an enhancement that provides greater flexibility in customising the field decimal digits displayed in the average calculations within Summary View Typeform. With this update, customers will have the ability to choose the number of decimal digits they wish to see in Summary View Typeform Totals.
