ODBC connection
Having a direct connection to the teamdesk db would be great as this would allow us to use third part software such as SAP Crystal Reports or any other report writer

Quickbase has this, so can we please?

there is an API to access TeamDesk content - I dont know Crystal Reports but couldnt that be used as a source for your report ?

we use a reporting tool from Logi Analytics (Logi Info) to report against TeamDesk content using the API. We cache the API result for a period of time so dont have to make the same request for every report.

Crystal reports uses odbc drivers, jdbc, sql. There are many different connection types. . All of theses allow you to drag and drop fields, create joins and have sub reports from different databases. It’s extremely flexible compared to the word document option available in TD.

Im not sure what you mean with the 'word document option' in TeamDesk. Thats not for analytical reporting but making printable pages from your database content.

TeamDesk is an online database so its normal you would access it via web services like REST and not more traditional methods like odbc.

You can read about the Teamdesk REST API at https://teamdesk.crmdesk.com/image.aspx?mode=file&id=15884

so you can query all the tables/views you want and join them in your reporting application.

If Crystal does not have a rest connector, I would say that is a shortcoming of Crystal rather than lack of ODBC being a shortcoming of TeamDesk

That's basically what i want to do. Produce a printable document. there are anumber of data sources available such as ADO,Net (xml) or XML web services which may work. But i am not sure how these may connect?
