Assign attachment directly in button
For some reason attachment columns can not be assigned to directly by buttons. Instead, a separate "action" must be created before the assignment is added. It would be more convenient and logical to define any assignment directly in the button assignment list, or at least clarify, in the button assignment section, that file attchments are excluded from the list.

@Robert please describe a real life scenario when you've need to assign a file attachment column directly in the custom button.

Hello Slava, well in my case the button just clears the column ( null = [column] ) along with other columns.

Hi, Am I understanding this correctly?

I would like to create a document (from an existing document template) and on the same click save that pdf as an attachment on the record. .... As opposed to print & save, then separately attach.

Maybe there's a way to do this already?
Thanks

@slava ... a real case scenario for me is the client wants to capture the data on a record in a document at that moment in time.

@TeamDesk UK Please consider using record update action linked to the custom button for that:
Attach to Record Option when Document Created
