Inline editing
I have 2 tables with a one to many relationship - a family table and then an individuals table with all those who belong to the family.
On the standard form for a family, the individuals appear in a sub-form and what I'd really like to allow there is inline editing for each individual rather than clicking on edit and opening the form for that table.

Is this possible?

Hi Bob
There is an inline edit option to edit the rows in a table view. Look for the view that you are using for the relationship. You can also edit inline on a form by double clicking an editable field.

I hope thats enough to get you started.

Jamie

Thanks for that, but what I really want is inline edit in a subform (i.e. on the individuals in this case)

Double clicking doesn't seem to work there

Hello Bob

Jaimie's proposal does allow you to edit in a subform, which is limited to the fields appearing in the table.
Did you make it work and find it unsatisfactory ?

Hi Bob,

I totally agree with Jamie's advice.

You can activate the Inline Edit option in a view created in the Individuals table and choose this view as a Details View in the relation settings.

More info on the Inline Edit option is provided here https://www.teamdesk.net/help/5.8.aspx
How to select a Details View you may read here https://www.teamdesk.net/help/8.6.aspx

Currently it is not possible to remove the Edit button completely from the details view.

Kind regards,
Mila

I think perhaps I'm not making myself completely clear

On the form for the family, the list of individuals belonging to that family appears at the bottom of the screen.

So 2 questions:
1. Is it possible in any way to reposition the list of individual so that it appears further up the screen?
2. When I go to the list of individuals, I'd like to be able to do an inline edit. I can't figure out to do this, and double clicking doesn't seem to work either. The only way I've found to do it so far is to click edit, which then opens the individuals form - I'm looking to reduce mouse clicks

Happy to give anyone access to the database if they think have a solution to these 2 questions.

Hello Bob

Did you try Mila's instructions:
https://www.teamdesk.net/help/5.8.aspx
https://www.teamdesk.net/help/8.6.aspx

To my knowledge the list will remain at the bottom.
There is an option to display the subtables one below the other instead of side by side (go to the parents table : family / ask for 'Customize existing columns' and then look for the 'order details' button)

You could also display the list of individuals higher in the screen, but losing the capacity to edit them (you would need to define an aggregate field in the parent table, with carriage return separators).
