The Safari Extensions Gallery was originally introduced in 2010 as a one-stop-shop of sorts for extensions. 8 years later, however, Apple is beginning the process of deprecating the platform. -- Direct saving to the server was done via browser plugin (ActiveX version for IE, NPAPI everywhere else) from Microsoft. Chrome and Firefox dropped support for NPAPI plugins couple of years ago, Edge has no support for NPAPI and ActiveX either. Safari 12 no longer supports NPAPI either. So, the only browser supporting outdated plugin model is Internet Explorer 11. |
