Messages & Alerts function in DBFlex
Currently TD has a message & alerts function that an admin can create when wanting to provide a message or alert say in new functions or tips.
This appears when a user logs in and is part of when we trial a pre made Dara see template.
This can be dismissed by the user.

It would be great if this can be carried over into DBFlex as it would be very useful when I would like to notify the DB users of a newly release feature or function.

Which message&alerts function are you talking about?
Thanks
Philipp

It’s not actually available to DB admins but is used by the TD team to post messages and alerts tonDB admins and users.
If you trial any of the TD database templates there is a message that appears explaining what can be done in the DB.

But as a user, it’s under your login name at the top right where you access User Preferences. Messages and Alerts are there.

Here is the blog on it back in 2009

We designed alert system to be able to post to various user groups - members of domain/database/customers/trials/admins and initially posted alerts to all users but after a number of complaints limited our posts to admins of TeamDesk. Alerts are managed via standard TeamDesk database and retrieved via REST API, so it should be hard to extend dbFLEX Admin with similar functionality.

> so it should be hard

in fact, it **should not** be hard :))

@Dave. Thanks for the explanation. From your original post I though that it was now possible for us Admins to post to our users, which was something I had asked for a long time ago.

@Kirill. I assume "should not be hard" means you might implement the existing TD functionality in DBFlex. While looking at it you might consider the suggestion that Admins can post messages for their users.

Thanks Phillip,

I was a bit confusing but admins initiating alerts to users that can then be dismissed by a user is something definitely wanted but Messages as well is handy

Thanks Kirill for putting this under consideration

Cheers
Dave
