Extracting unique records and adding them to an existing table
I buy records of all shipments into and out of Russia from the Russian Customs Service.

There are many shipments but fewer importers in the table; Let us call it OriginalData. I want to identify unique importer records and post them into another existing table, which may already have the importer listed. So I only want new importers added to the table of importing Companies. I want to avoid overwriting existing data. I need to do this because I use Company list for cold calling companies and there may already be valuable information from a previous project. The cold calling activity only requires one unique record for each Company. All the companies have unique reference numbers provided by the Russian, tax system.

I am a total beginner with TeamDesk. I have no idea if it's possible to 1) identify unique records from a subset of columns. 2) move this data to an existing table. 3) update the existing table without overwriting old records.

I assume this will be rather a manual process. I will have to export from the OriginalData table to an intermediate table and then import into the Company table.

The OriginalData table also lists people at the company. So, in a perfect world, I would like to add the new person to a People table as well as the importer to the Company table.

I am able to do all this with IBM Lotus Approach, a now obsolete PC-based Database Management System although the solutions are not always elegant. They require exporting the old table and writing back after updating the table with new information.

My main interest in using TeamDesk for this application is to share the Company table with my cold calling team using the cloud. My alternative solution is to do the heavy duty processing with Lotus approach on the PC and use KnackHQ for sharing Company information with my cold calling team. TeamDesk is attractive because it has a better user interface for the Cold Callers.

@Philip please consider using "Move" button for that:

Please upload your "original data", open a question using this support portal and describe what you need to do in terms of your dataset.
We'll try to perform required transformation for you or provide you with an instruction, so you'll be able to do it yourself.
