Curious Question about Foresoft/Team Desk
Hi,

I have gotten to know TD a bit over the last 14 days during my trial, and we are not going to be subscribers.

I have tried to find information about this company, it has been around for about 10 years and started TD i think in 2006, however there is very little "about us" information on the home page, and almost no information on the foresoft website. My question is that we like any other company hosting information with TD, plan to and use your services for years. We have been in business since 1980, and have been using our Access database since 1997 (upgrading along the way ofcourse) So what I'm asking is who run's Foresoft/Teamdesk is it a few people? Do they have a office or a physical location? What happens to our data if they decide to close down?

Their have been a few online database systems dabbledb.com for one that closed down in a short period of time. I am not saying this will even happen to TD, but myself and my company would like to see more information about the owners/operators etc, just so we can sleep at night! I couldn't find any telephone numbers that users can contact for payment issues or other questions...

If we are in the Chicago area can we visit?

I am sure some of your old users can share your experience and answer some of our questions.

Thanks!

Hi Ricky

Had exactly the same questions in 2006. 8 years later I know we made the right decision. Many other similar companies have fallen by the way side but TD/Foresoft have grown in terms of product and professionalism. If any thing they probably don't shout loud enough in terms of presence which can come across as a concern to someone looking in from the outside but I can honestly it was one of the best decisions we made.

Hope this helps.

Scott

Company INTERFLORA UKRAINE uses Teamdesk from 2008.
Everything is OK.
We are mail-order company in seed and flowerbulb business.
We already put 2 mln. orders in database (+ connected invoices, payments, tel.calls).
Ussually 20 users work, in high season - 30 users.
Also we have online connection with our internet-shop.

I agree with Ricky's question, I really would like to know more, especially as we are in the process of building and soon launching a major release. From a corporate risk management perspective, this really is a concern. We tried to address it with Foresoft back in 2008 and good plenty of assurances but no concrete facts.

However, I also agree with Scott. I have never regretted going with this system. The system is good, the support is good and my users are happy.

Foresoft: Do yourself a favour and give companies some facts with which to box off the corporate risk assessment.

Its what's under the hood - the people. This no-hype exterior conceals a depth of genius hard to find elsewhere. I have almost 10 years of relentless customer support, nearly ZERO service interruptions, continuous product improvement through "implementation" process and everything just works. Teamdesk is one of the few things in my world I can depend on. Note: genius doesn't buy into flash and self promotion, look past it. You won't find another platform that has this caliber of people and intelligence behind it. I admin/develop for two companies totaling 25+ employees. Dig into it deep and compare with what's out there. Look at the Blog history. Hope this helps.

100% agree with Sam Parish. TD offer the best support, the most secure data retention and the best platform to manage any sized business from. Their pricing is simple and clear and the stability in their office is reassuring.

I, like I'm sure others, have continued to look at competitor products along the way, but nothing has ever come close to what TD offers.

Your question and your concerns are truly valid but rest assured that TD is solid.

Is there a reason why TD will not chime in and respond to a perfectly valid question?

Hi all,

Thank you for sharing your stories – they sound really inspiring.
As for ForeSoft, the company has been in business for almost 15 years, providing dependable service and support from the very beginning. BUGtrack and CRMdesk were the company’s first SaaS services and they still remain very popular and robust.

TeamDesk platform was introduced 8 years ago, adding to the already diversified portfolio of the company’s SaaS services.
dbFLEX was offered shortly after TeamDesk was released. It is used to empower our partners with the infrastructure so that they can offer their own white-labeled TeamDesk-based systems.
Choosing the right SaaS company is a major business decision. We strive our best to serve our customers in a way that they would never regret choosing ForeSoft:
http://www.teamdesk.net/testimonials

ForeSoft grew steadily from the very beginning and it keeps growing at a constant pace. We commit to serve our customers for good, and we mean it.
Many of our competitors’ companies (such as DabbleDB, WebOffice, and others) closed their doors and we always came to rescue their abandoned customers. ForeSoft is built by dedicated people and will remain dedicated to serve our customers for life. We’re a small company and enjoyed being that. We want to maintain the kind of business where coworkers know each other’s names. We aim to be a long-term business, grow steadily and run profitable from the very beginning, without any outside investment.

I agree that we are not loud enough concerning company presence, but it helps us to concentrate on what we do best – offering a cutting-edge SaaS platforms.
ForeSoft generates a healthy revenue that we could proudly disclose, but we still prefer to keep it private along with other stats.
As our company doesn’t intend to rely on any financing, we prefer not to disclose any private information to keep from getting unnecessary attention from potential investors and acquirers. We don’t want to get spammed by such inquiries, and our customers don’t seem to mind and love us regardless :) And we really love our customers!

Val

I think the point that Foresoft may be missing is the risk assessment from our point of view, regardless of whether we are end users or re-sellers. We need to have the confidence that Foresoft is financially sound and will be around for the foreseeable future. This is the part of the picture that is missing. I understand your desire for financial confidentiality, but if you could find some way to crack this issue, it would be a great help.

Hi Val
I found these comments when looking for something else. I'm afraid I agree with the above.
As you know I've just introduced TD to a huge company, but at the moment at only local level. I fully expect an audit of the system any time soon and they'll need to know about the financials and company profile to consider expanding to the entire UK-wide 20 locations and hundreds of users.
Can you please prepare something that you can send out when requested to, at your discretion. And send it to me on this user email. Otherwise, I may be told I can't use the system.
Thanks
Rebecca

I am also interested in more background about the company and stability, roadmap etc.

Teamdesk is gaining some traction/visibility in our company but it makes me a little nervous promoting it for important projects only to wake up one morning and find it no longer exists !

We can make regular backups of the data but thats not really the point if we use it to support our business processes.

thanks
Nick

3 year user here. I have an opportunity to expand the use of Teamdesk to a large client of mine. They to want to know details about the company. Any recent movement on such disclosures?

We are coming up on 12 years in June using the platform. We were using DabbleDB who, despite their promises to us and other business owners, got acquired by Twitter and left all us users in the lurch by unceremoniously giving us notice re that platforms sunsetting.

Foresoft promised they weren't like that and had no intention of going away, and I took the leap of faith after getting burned by Dabble.

I'm so glad I did. It's been absolutely rock solid, with very little unplanned downtime over the 12 years we've used it and as anyone knows getting an answer to a support question at all hours, support is stellar.

Not that auditing is without value of course, but, auditors in an enterprise who might be called to assess the system to a certain spec, are in a self-perpetuating business. In my experience, such reviews don't always lead to better systems, but sometimes just added potential for confusion. Also, more bureaucratic process of any kind will add overhead costs for Foresoft, possibly meaning higher fees for us.

With Foresoft, the proof has really been "in the pudding" as the saying goes.
