Document print updating a field
What I am trying to achieve is to update a field 'Inv Printed' when a document (the invoice) is printed so that the invoice cannot be amended further.

I though about doing this via a custom button but cannot see documents included as an option?

Any ideas please?

Hi Rebecca
I had some challenges formatting some dashboards for printing and noted the following general points:
1. Use IE rather than Chrome or Safari for printing.
2. to solve some issue around page breaking, TD support advised I could include my own HTML/JavaScript.

In any event, I suggest you ask TD support.

Hi Rebecca
As you may have seen from my comments to Idea #594, I am now coming up against a requirement set similar to yours.

Hi Desmond

In the end rather than our team 'printing' the invoice, I am getting it emailed to them via a workflow. The workflow also updates a 'invoice printed' checkbox which, when 'true' denies access to the invoice for further amendment.

The checkbox update is the first task, making the user the 'last updated by' and thus the invoice gets emailed to the right person, ie 'last updated by'.

This works but its clumsy and means another step for the user, but it works.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca
I am looking to take the process a step further.
We want to be able to BATCH print a group (by mark or filter) of records.

Ant thoughts?

Hi Desmond

As in print several invoices, or the statements for several clients? Yes, we need to do that too and have not yet found an answer.

I have resorted to exporting a report and then using mail-merge in Word to get the monthly invoice run. Again, clumsy and restrictive.

I am currently developing a new application for a client that will really need to be able to print a document for more than one record for a time, as you need to also!

@Rebecca please consider promoting/commenting Report/Document showing multiple records idea.
