Allow multiple choices in a dropdown list
The only way to choose multiple options is through a list of checkboxes. This is useful, but takes up a lot of space in the form.
Would it be possible to allow multiple choices in a drowpdownlist (the way you do that in Windows with CTRL and Shift keys) ?

I agree that it takes lot of space in the form, but I fear some users may have trouble using the CTRL + Shift method.

Another option could be just to allow actual checklist to use the 4 column format space and re-arrange horizontally as a matrix to use the empty space on the form.

A matrix of checkboxes would solve only part of the problem.
Another way could be to show two lists; one with the unselected options and a second one with the options already selected. In between the two lists, there are four buttons to
- select one,
- select all,
- deselect one,
- deselect all
I think this solution would be complete foolproof, but much harder to realize.......

Here is a link to a drawing showing what I meant.

By the way it would be nice to be able to include attachments in comments of this idea exchange forum.

How about like we currently choose columns in views? Select one (or multiple) and either add/remove. It would be nice to prioritise the list too
Top Up Down Bottom...
BTW - Did you know you can select multiple columns and move them about together? It's a real time saver

This would greatly shorten up the interface on the screen. A real help

This functionally would be imperative to the use of this software & organization of my applications

Multi-select Drop-down lists are a MUST for many organisations. The option proposed by @basenine sounds the most appropriate as it follows the TeamDesk Setup conventions.

The Ctrl+click option is counterintuitive and many users won't get it. Salesforce uses that method for multi-select picklists and often users ask me how to select (or UNselect!) multiple options.

A more modern approach to this would be something like https://harvesthq.github.io/chosen/#multiple-select where you can select multiple items from a dropdown and it converts it to tags. It has a built-in search/filter and you can easily remove a selected item by X'ing it out.

This is a jQuery plugin so I'm hoping it would be easy to implement.

@Randy A - that looks like a very neat solution! I hope it can be implemented in TD.
