Allow users to create and save new views
It would be so useful to allow users to create new and save new views. In addition to users being able to manage users and data it would be great if they could have access to view management to create and save a 'custom' report that they would use time and again.

Thanks,

LL

I was convinced that this topic would get more traction that it has. Surely, the ability for users to create custom reports and save them in their application is crucial?

The majority of other comparable platforms provide this functionality. Without it, the clients must return time after time to a 3rd party to create a persistent report (on the back end) which may be vital to their business.

If there is a workaround, I would be SO happy to hear it!

Thanks!!!!!

Creating views should be possible for an administrator to give some of the end-users access to create/edit views, without having tot open up the rest of the SETUP functionality. I think an extra SETUP permission option "Create Views" would do the trick.

I was about to post this myself.. Then thought I should do a search first. This is great idea and as Ton suggests, just an addition to the user setup permission. There would be no harm in having a non administrator creating a view. It's not like they can delete columns or alter workflows.
A score of 90 is too low for this idea 😀

I'd like this, only if it could be well controlled.

I would not want the user-created views to be official, and visible to everyone, until an admin had a chance to vet. Because invariably, people would just make the view without looking to see if there was one already. Plus, there's a lot that can be done by simply searching instead of having a hard-coded view. So I'm resisting my users who are asking for views, without properly looking at what is there...

In case the solution I suggested is chosen, you CAN control who gets permission to create views and who does not... The problem in the current situation is that the person that should be able to create views, must have SETUP rights and is able to alter, create or drop tables, forms, notifications, etc. too.
Another option is to create a possiblity for all users to create PERSONAL views.

Yeah, personal views could be nice.

Trying to keep this fresh. Surely would be of great use to everyone?

bump

Consistent customer feedback on this topic deserves another bump. Less than ideal workarounds exist for this (ability to save URLs of custom reports).

Perhaps an additional feature for placing user created views in a collapsible category in the sidebar (for “Customer created reports”) ?

Obviously this has to include the exclusion to full setup rights.

Personal views is the way to go so that it doesn't clutter everyones views why has this not been looked at? Almost every other platform out there has this feature.

Ability to create personal views is a big plus. We have hundred of users and each one may need their own views. It is not possible to satisfy every ones needs by the Admin. The personal views the user creates will be able to see only for that person, so I guess those views might have stored some where in the users profile.
