Custom / Mobile / iPhone / PDA Interfaces
I think it would be useful to introduce the idea of "Interfaces" to TD.

Basically, I could define an interface (a "Default Interface" would emulate current styles/behaviour) with a set of CSS styles and layout templates, then select which interface I wanted to use as the default for a given User/Form/View/etc.

This way, I could provide mobile access via iPhone or PDA devices, and would also be able to further customise the look/feel of the application to suit branding, etc.

Each Application could have one or more interfaces.

Teamdesk application needs a PDA sollution as well. The current layout is very difficult for a PDA. PDA users are growing in number and it should be easy for them to view and enter data.

More importantly, we should be able to build multiple "Interfaces" for various devices, or at least have a cut-down interface for mobile devices like the iPhone, Pocket PC, SymbianOS, etc.

In my opinion, the minimum should be to offer customize our applications via CSS styles.

Similar to the /embedded option, it would be nice if there were a /mobile or /pda that reduced the width of the form to make it easier to read on handheld devices. We are considering making mobile forms that allow users to enter data remotely from ipads, iphones, and other handhelds, but the form width does not automatically reduce in size.

I think an aplication for mobiles should be better than adapting to browser, I already use teamdesk from my Galaxy Tab 7" with no problems but my experince(Webserver CPANEL) is that aplication developed for specific platforms make things easier, should be nice to have teamdesk on Android Market ;)

Tablet/Smartphones market is now mostly embraced by modern browsers. All Apple devices, Android OS or Blackberry 6 are based on WebKit-based rendering engine; upcoming WP7 Mango update will introduce IE9 mobile browser; both support most of modern HTML/CSS/JavaScript standards.

With standard support I guess we can detect many of device capabilities and adjust the interface accordingly via CSS. That's what we are trying to reach with New form layout and couple of recent updates.

Still not sure about views: table presentation is table, after all and it's not clear whether we need an automatic adoption or let admins create special kind of "mobile" table-like views.

So, or so, we think modern HTML standard is the future for mobile-aware TeamDesk. Dedicated application make a little sense since the app's interface is heavily controlled via setup options.

@All we believe that upcoming TeamDesk UI update will work much better on mobile/tablet devices. Please learn more about it - TeamDesk new UI preview.
If you are interested in previewing new UI send us an URL of the database to support@teamdesk.net; we'll then re-route database to new UI.
