Add variable to notifications: Modified fields only
Currently, notifications can display either,

* The complete version of the current record, with the modified field highlighted
* The previous and/or current versions of specific fields

It would be useful to add a variable that will display only the modified field. I don't need to see the whole record. For example, if Amy changes only the field, "Specifications", then the proposed variable would display only that field in the notification.

(I also posted a separate request to include the previous version of modified fields in updates. Combining these two requests, we could have notifications with only the previous version of the modified field, the current version, and not much else. That request is "Notifications show changes (previous & current versions), not just current version").

Thanks,
Tom

The functionality of the "Column History Tracking" idea could help here. According to Kirill Bondar:
"The history is a system-wide general purpose structure storing the table identifier, the column changed, the record identifier and old and new values."

If the changed column is stored in History, I imagine it could be included in a notification.

The combined request (see Summary above), would be exactly what Kirill describes -- the column changed, the record identifier and old and new values -- except in a notification and not in a table.

I agree. I use Teamdesk as a reservation system for my clients and it would be much easier if notifications only sent the modified item instead of the entire reservation each time.

We've added new placeholder %RecChanges% which will insert a list of the record changes in the notification.

This doesn't solve the problem because it doesn't allow us to choose which columns we want in the notification. For instance, I have columns that are only for administration yet it sends that info just the same as a column only set for the client to see.

@Jeffrey please open separate question using support portal and describe your problem in terms of your database.
