Change View/Edit/etc buttons to links, to support Tabbed (or multi-window) Browsing
Now, the View/Edit/etc widgets are buttons, which prevents the user from opening multiple records in multiple tabs or windows. If they were hyperlinks (either images or just text ), tab (and multi-window) functionality would work.

For example, if I search for "blackberry", TeamDesk might display these results:

* [View] [Edit] Install new blackberry for J Smith
* [View] [Edit] M Jones blackberry not receiving mail
* [View] [Edit] F Doe blackberry crashing
* [View] [Edit] Install new blackberry enterprise server

I might want to view several of these, but because "View" is a button,

1. Clicking it causes me to lose my search results (i.e., I can't view my search results and a record simultaneously)
2. I can't view more than one record simultaneously (or not without repeating the search in another tab/window)

It would also be useful to make the Search button, at top left, a hyperlink, so I can open search results in a new tab/window. My instinct is that most buttons would be more functional if they were (text or image) hyperlinks.

Thanks, and thanks for your responsiveness to requests.

As an example, I'll describe my experience this morning below:

I'm researching junk mail issues at a particular client. I searched for "junk" and brought up a long list of issues. Here's what I've been doing:

1. In the search results, find an issue that looks relevant: Issue #412
2. Click "View" for #412 and review it. Assuming the issue is indeed relevant, I want to keep it up on my screen:
3. Open new tab from random link on page (usually one under Views), so that the new tab contains a search field.
4. In new tab, search for #412.
5. In new tab's search results, click "View" for #412. Now it's open on my screen.
6. In original tab, click "Back" to return to search results to look for more issues
7. Repeat above steps with each relevant issue

If in step 2, I could open #412 in a new tab or window, I could skip steps 3-6.

On this form for commenting in Idea Exchange, I see the "Preview" and "Help" widgets are images, not real buttons, and Preview will open in a new tab (though it's a little buggy). Maybe that implementation could could be applied to other parts of TD?

Thanks.

When creating a view, it would be good to have an option that opens the form in a new window. Something like a Pop Up

Also, an added feature to control the size and the look of the pop up would also be very good.

Many actions in Teamdesk are accomplished using buttons (like "view"). These work but the user cannot right click to copy link (to paste into an email for example). Instead they have to click on the button and then highlight the address in the next page to copy. It might be nice to change all these buttons to hyperlinks.

Yes, a form that opens to a managable size would be cleaner, as opposed to stretching across the entire screen when there are only a few short fields for entry.

How about set up the view you want and then right click on link in sidebar and "open in new window" or "open in new Tab"...

Before last update of teamdesk on last week I could open views or forms in new windows. But only in browser Safari (apple). Simple hold key "cmd" on keybord and click button "view" or "new" or "delete". New (next) window will be opened in new window.

Now it is impossible. Very inconveniently.

Yes, Safari supported Ctrl+button click feature to open results in a new window in a limited scenario - for "submit" buttons only. Unfortunately "submit" buttons react on Enter key as well and ideally you should have only one submit button on the page - that's why we've changed numerous "submit" buttons in tables to be regular buttons.

Instead of turning it back, we'd rather investigate the possiblity to use links instead of buttons in the tables - as [outlined here](https://www.teamdesk.net/secure/db/4263/preview.aspx?t=7948&id=53)

Although the buttons are aesthetically pleasing, I like the ability to quickly use keyboard shortcuts to do things like open a particular link in a tab or a new windows. I would imagine links could be made to look nice with CSS, couldn't they?

With new UI we have converted many buttons that were simply navigating to another page to hyperlinks. For example, view's New, View, Edit, Del, Print, Export, Send and Back actions are all links - try right clicking and you'll see "Open in a new tab".

There are still couple of buttons left: form's Save and mass-modify custom buttons are still buttons as they should send some information to the server.

This change is for us probably the most useful feature of the new UI. Speaking of buttons, will you make it possible to set the location of "document buttons" the way location of "custom buttons" can be modified?
